Academic, tertiary, health and personal counselling services are available for all our students. We are fully committed to ensuring you receive the best possible care while you are away from home.
Code of Practice
Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016 delivers a framework for education providers to ensure a high standard of care and wellbeing is maintained for international students while they live and study in New Zealand. Education agents are also required to follow the Code.
Taylors College takes the Code of Practice very seriously and always follow the guidelines.
International Student Contract Dispute Resolution Scheme
Taylors College commits to fully comply with the Dispute Resolution Scheme (DRS) rules. More information can be found at www.istudent.org.nz. A full version of DRS rules is available at here.
You must arrive in New Zealand at least 3 - 4 days before the commencement of classes so that you can attend the Taylors College orientation program.
At orientation you will cover the following and much more:
- Introduction to Taylors College and teachers
- Introduction to subjects
- Getting a student ID
- Connecting to the internet
- A School tour
- Who to talk to when you need help
It is also an opportunity to make new friends and learn your way around the campus. It is essential that all students attend orientation.
Student Welfare Team
We have a dedicated team made up of multi-lingual staff trained in areas of student welfare, accommodation, pastoral care and counselling.
Attendance rolls are marked for every lesson and your presence at class is strictly monitored. Good attendance is essential for success in AFY.
Student activity programme
A programme of social and cultural events is organised by staff at the College which all students are encouraged to participate in.
Our friendly university counsellor will assist you to select the university programme that best meets your career aims. You will also have the opportunity to visit the universities during your foundation course to help you make the best decision about your future.
VISA Renewal Service
We offer a visa renewal service on campus for students who wish to change to Taylors from another school in New Zealand or to extend their current visa. The on-campus visa service is quicker and cheaper than applying directly to Immigration New Zealand.
24-hour Emergency Contact
The Taylors College Welfare Manager will be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you need help or assistance in an emergency.
Twice yearly, we host fun evening events to catch up with past Taylors College students.
