The Auckland Foundation Year’s classes are small in size, allowing
you to get all the attention you need. If you’re going to a different
country for the first time, having support services in place make all
the difference.
The teachers are extremely helpful, inspiring you to improve as a student by making
you learn as much as you can. During AFY, I was also able to make new friends and
get to know my teachers really well. This made me feel safe and cared for.
Whilst studying AFY, I was also able to learn a lot about myself. When you live in
the same place for a long time as I did, adapting to a new culture can be daunting.
However, once you are here, you make great friends, have wonderful experiences
and realise it was all worth it. Your English might not be great at the beginning, but if
you have a positive attitude and study hard, you will overcome the language barrier.
The sky is the limit, and the ultimate goal is to enrol at university. Keep a positive
attitude and you’ll surely make it!
After graduating from the University of Melbourne, I came back to Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia. I worked as a Research Executive in the Wealth Management Department,
at the OCBC Bank. After a year and a half, I was offered a position at Nielsen, where I
presently work in the market research field.
